Fall Teas and Their Benefits

Fall Teas and Their Benefits

This fall, I am trying to be purposeful in everything I do.   Things shift, seasons change, and along with this, we change too.   Our bodies function differently in cooler weather, with less sunshine in each days time.   So I feel it is important to focus on the fall pumpkin, apples, cinnamon and cranberry to not only enjoy the flavors of the season, but to also focus on the good they do for us and our bodies!

Pumpkin: it is a superfood due to extremely high antioxidant content.   We need this to fight free radicals and to keep our immune systems functioning well....

Cranberry: very high in vitamin C as well as Vitamin E.  They are a great source of fiber and lower cholesterol levels.

Cinnamon: Helps to control blood sugar levels, and is effective in lowering cholesterol levels and reducing the risk of heart disease.  It also enhances brain activity and is known to improve cognitive function.

Apple: excellent source of vitamin C, potassium, fiber and antioxidants. Apples aid in digestion and have mood enhancing benefits and help to reduce stress.

In the fall and winter we tend to move less, sleep more and get outside in the sun less, so all of these benefits listed above are important to our overall health as we change along with the seasons.  Enjoy our pumpkin and apple teas, and enjoy the health benefits that go along with them!   Tea  leaves also improve brain health as they contain polyphenols and aid in the prevention of dementia and Alzheimer's.   Polyphenols are cancer-fighting as well.... the camellia sinensis plant (tea plant) is one of the best things you can put in your body- so find a tea that you enjoy and drink it daily!

Wishing you a healthy and happy fall...... I hope you live it intentionally as I plan to do.

xoxo
